about
Hello, my name is Alex. I am an architectural designer hoping to make the built environment more beautiful, resilient, sustainable and efficient. The core of my interest lies in creating aesthetic buildings that blend the natural environment with the urban fabric, weaving the two into a balanced and symbiotic relationship. I approach each project working to uplift the basic pillars of sustainability: the environment, economy, and equitability. A successful project will effectively meet the needs of the client while creating an aesthetic and engaging design that enhances the local environment and is approachable to all users.
I’m originally from Lakewood, WA. I grew up exploring the mountainous trails of the Pacific Northwest. The beauty of the Olympic National Park taught me the importance of sustaining our natural environment (in the woods or in the city) for future generations. My sense of adventure and passion for the built environment led me to study architecture at the University of Virginia. In architecture school, I became more interested in the process and philosophy of design thinking. Design thinking is a way of solving problems using the creative process of iteration, analytical research, cross-sector collaboration, and empathic design.
My dream to provide beautiful design expertise to the people and businesses that need it most. Whether I am designing the dream home for a family or a mixed-use multi-family development for a developer, I take pride in my work. I always strive for a high-quality level of design, using my attention to detail and creative skills to create a shared-vision with the client to achieve a successful project.
Without further ado, welcome to my world of design...
When I'm not designing, I like to spend my time exploring new environments. My partner and I love to travel and spend time in nature. When we're not in the city working, we enjoy escaping into the woods, mountains, deserts, and beaches. With each expedition, I come back recharged with renewed inspiration to create my next designs.
